This presentation is intended to help practitioners make the business case to convince their executive to invest in a new or improved quality management system (QMS) and then be able to demonstrate how the QMS is achieving its objectives. The presentation will look at steps to take to develop, implement and measure the effectiveness of a QMS in consulting engineering. Marg Latham, P.Eng., FEC
Marg is a professional engineer, fellow of Engineers Canada and certified management consultant. She is President of Aqua Libra Consulting Ltd., a management consulting firm. Since starting her business in 2010, she has helped public and private engineering organizations improve professional practice and quality management. From 2000 to 2009, Marg was a Vice President with consulting firms UMA and AECOM where she implemented management systems to improve client delivery. She spent the first 20 years of her career managing institutional, residential and infrastructure projects in Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver. Marg is assisting or has assisted many public and private organizations, including Metro Vancouver, Ministry of Transportation and Transit, TransLink, and several municipalities and consulting firms, in meeting their EGBC Permit to Practice requirements. She is also assisting APEGS in developing its regulation of firms program for Saskatchewan. She is currently the volunteer Chair of the Canadian Centre for Women in Science, Engineering, Trades and Technology (WinSETT), an organization committed to fostering opportunities for women to enter, stay, grow and lead at all levels in science, engineering, trades and technology careers. Marg's contributions have been recognized through various accolades, including receiving the EGBC R.A. McLachlin Memorial Award in 2021 and being named a finalist for the Women's Infrastructure Network's Outstanding Leader Award in 2017.

This session will explore the actions being taken to address climate change within our operations and through our regulatory mandate. Attendees will gain insights into how these initiatives provide tools and guidance for registrants to integrate climate change considerations and sustainability into professional practice. Virginie Brunetaud
Virginie is a Climate Strategist at Engineers and Geoscientists BC, a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag) and a Climate Change Professional (CC-P®). She holds a master's degree in water resources management. Her previous work as a hydrogeologist in the contaminated sites and water sectors has led her to recognize the profound link between water projects and climate change. Virginie is now leading the development and implementation of the Organizational Climate change Strategy at Engineers and Geoscientists BC. She currently is a mentee in the Women4Climate program by ZEIC, and part of a technical sub-committee assessing climate action competencies for the engineering profession.
Harshan Radhakrishnan, P.Eng.
Harshan is the Manager of Climate Change and Sustainability Initiatives at Engineers and Geoscientists BC and a certified Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®) Practitioner. He leads programs that integrate sustainability and climate adaptation into both Engineers and Geoscientists BC's operations and professional practice. Harshan also engages with provincial and municipal governments, technical groups, Indigenous organizations, and other interest holders on climate strategies. With over 15 years in environmental regulation and oversight, he brings expertise in climate risk management, sustainable development, and advancing low-carbon resilience in engineering and geoscience professions.
Gillian Aubie Vines
Gillian is a social geographer and planner with a Master’s in Cities, Space and Society from the London School of Economics. She has worked across Canada, the UK, and Mexico on sustainability, climate adaptation, and social inclusion. With experience in government, NGOs, and academia, she specializes in bridging science, planning, and public engagement. Gillian designs and facilitates inclusive consultation processes and is a registered member of IAP2. Known for her creative approach to engaging diverse communities, she also teaches in the Geography Department at Langara College and is the founder of Pinna, a planning and engagement consultancy.
