LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT – SAFEGUARDING AGAINST PANDEMIC

Speaker: Dr. Nima Eslaminasab, P.Eng., Dr. Nader Noroozi, P.Eng., Ramapriya Dunna, P.Eng., and Jennifer Grace, EIT

This presentation covers travel patterns prior to COVID-19 and the Impact on Public transportation globally during Lock down phase and a review on different solutions provided by transport agencies across the globe. Based on the lessons learned during this pandemic and possible risks on the health and safety of the public, additional measurements and adoptions are required to be implemented in place. Few different solutions (pedestrian modelling at platform and air flow modelling to understand transfer of airborne pathogens) can be implemented using the similar infrastructure and platform/station configurations. The efficiency of these methods is demonstrated through mathematical modelling and simulations.
