PRESENTER BIOS

Brad Greening

Brad is Vice President, Client Executive at Marsh Canada whose primary role is to manage the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Affinity Program for Professional Liability Insurance. Brad obtained his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 1997, and has over 25 years in the insurance industry on both Underwriting and Brokering side of the insurance business. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise in Professional Liability products as well as the business of professional engineers.


Jeanette Lawrence

Jeanette Lawrence has been with Berkley Canada since 2013. Jeanette came to Berkley with more than 15 years of experience in the property casualty insurance industry in Canada, with the majority of her time spent in professional liability lines.  Prior to joining Berkley, she worked with AIG for over a decade managing their Professional Liability Division. In this role, she was also the cyber leader for Canada, responsible for managing growth of this product countrywide.  Jeanette spent the early part of her career working for a large National broker in specialty risk placement and risk management consulting.  Jeanette has her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario and holds her Registered Professional Liability Underwriter designation.  She resides in Toronto with her husband and daughter.


Joanna Marie Shea

Joanna Shea has over 17 years of commercial and project negotiations experience in the natural resource, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. During that time, has led over $2B worth of acquisitions, divestments, and contract negotiations. She has project managed and negotiated agreements linked to over $1B in capital projects in both Canada and the United States and held senior leadership roles in negotiations, project management, resource development and organizational restructuring. Joanna has a BCom from St. Francis Xavier University, is a graduate of British Petroleum’s intensive in-house Conflict and Negotiations training course, holds a Graduate Certificate in Project Leadership from Cornell University and a Graduate Certificate in Negotiations from the Harvard School of Business. She is a co-founder of the Negotiations Collective. 


Madison Britz

Madison Britz, Assistant Vice President, Associate Client Executive at Marsh Canada. Madison obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Victoria and has a background in various Professional Liability products. Madison’s primary role is working on the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Affinity program for Professional Lability Insurance, along with various standalone Professional Liability policies. She is specialized in E&O Placement and her main focus is now offering support and placing coverage for various Engineers and Geoscientists. Madison brings 4 years of experience to the team and has proven her abilities in the retention of key clients in the amalgamation of portfolio of clients of Professional Liability into Marsh Canada.


Marlowe Mercado

Marlowe Mercado, B.A., CAIB is Vice President, Client Executive in the Commercial Lines Unit of Marsh Canada. He holds a Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) Designation and is working towards his CIP Designation (Chartered Insurance Professional). Marlowe is a trained diplomat with a degree in international relations and business.  He specializes in Professional Lines Insurance with 11 years of experience working in both North American and Asian Insurance Markets. His role is the upkeep and placement work on the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Affinity program. Marlowe brings a fresh perspective to the team with his multinational experience and local market understanding.


Adel Gamar

Adel Gamar is Cofounder and CEO of GLG Ltd, a boutique consulting firm specializing in adaptive leadership, organizational strategy, and change management. He is driven to forge effective collaborations among business, government, and non-profit sectors while creating lasting and impactful solutions. Over the course of his career, Gamar has advised senior leaders of Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and governments worldwide. He served as Education Specialist at UNESCO and Policy Fellow at Harvard Law School. While at Harvard, he taught adaptive leadership and negotiation. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at UBC Sauder School of Business where he delivers executive programs in adaptive leadership and collaboration.


Tara Landes

Tara Landes is the founder and president of Bellrock Benchmarking Inc., a Vancouver-based management consulting firm where remarkable is expected. Bellrock helps business leaders solve their toughest problems. Permanently. She is also a highly sought-after speaker. Tara earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2000. Currently, she serves as a board member for Centre Bay Yacht Station and as a mentor for The Forum.


Dr. Cheryl Nelms, P.Eng.

Cheryl is the General Manager Project Delivery at Metro Vancouver.  She brings years of public sector expertise in fostering and implementing EDI initiatives.


Christopher Michael Mealing, P.Eng.

Chris is the Managing Director at Mott MacDonald Canada. He leads the company’s efforts, which were recently recognized by ACEC-BC for their deep commitment to the principles of EDI.


Chunpreet Sahota, P.Eng.

Chunpreet is a Structural Engineer at WSP. She demonstrates extraordinary capacity and commitment to embedding EDI in her work and within the engineering profession.


Dani Delaloye, P.Eng.

Dani Delaloye is a Senior Project Engineer at Mott MacDonald.  Over her eight years in the engineering industry, Dani has actively advocated for early career professionals both at Mott MacDonald and through external involvement in groups such as the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of British Columbia Young Professionals Group and Engineers without Borders. Dani has led the national and global early career professional committees at Mott MacDonald and currently sits as the Chair of the ACEC-BC YPG.


Vandana Juneja

Vandana Juneja is Executive Director of Catalyst Canada, where she leads the growth of Catalyst’s operations in Canada, working closely with supporters, corporate partners, professional organizations, CEOs, and senior leaders to accelerate progress for women through workplace inclusion. A sought-after speaker on diversity, equity, and inclusion, Vandana is a trusted business leader who has guided DEI strategies around the globe, including in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. She joined Catalyst in 2013, working closely with Catalyst’s supporter communities in progressive roles, and advancing to VP, Global Growth Markets in 2017. Prior to joining Catalyst, Vandana practiced immigration law, working with clients across a broad range of industries. She went on to work in the Diversity and Inclusion groups of two leading Canadian banks, where she focused on gender initiatives and advising Employee Resource Groups.


Marcie Cochrane, P.Eng. 

Marcie is the President of Advance Principle Consulting. She leverages her research and work within the engineering sector to support organizations in making changes to improve the retention and advancement of equity-seeking groups in their workplaces.


Joanne Blake

Joanne Blake, AICI, CIP, CPC is an executive presence coach, a ‘savvy not stuffy’ speaker, and a pioneer in the image industry.  She is the recipient of the Certified Image Professional (CIP) designation from the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) and has also achieved the Certified Professional Coaching designation.  Joanne is the founder of Style for Success Inc and has worked with global organizations and more than 20,000 professionals.  For over 15 years she has been presenting at conferences and continuing education events hosted by Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, helping members elevate their personal brand. 


Jody Kennett

Jody Kennett is a leadership and communication specialist who develops people and leaders to communicate and lead effectively so they can connect, engage, and build high performing, collaborative teams. She is an ICF Professional Certified Leadership Coach with a specialization in C-IQ, Conversational Intelligence, which is the neuroscience of communication. As a facilitator of C-IQ training and coaching, she empowers companies with the knowledge and skills to create a culture of trust with leaders who have great communication skills so they can support their team to: partner, navigate change, handle conflict, and innovate together. Jody also supports leaders in managing their health and well being with Peak Energy Performance coaching. She is a co-author of The Winning Mindset book and an instructor at Ashton College.


Edson Ng, P.Eng.

Edson is Principal and Co-founder of G4 Insights. He has over 30 years of experience in business development roles and over 25 years of experience in technology development and commercialization. Prior to G4, he worked at leading technology companies including IBM, Creo (Kodak), and QuestAir (Xebec). Edson has a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a registered Professional Engineer and Certified Management Consultant.


Dr. Patric Ouellette, P.Eng.

Patric is a clean technology executive and a mechanical engineer with over 25 years' experience in the development and deployment of low carbon fuels systems. He was a member of the founding team of Westport Innovations and part of the leadership team that built the company from a university spin-off to a global industry leader in alternative fuel systems. After leaving Westport, Patric consulted to several clean technology organizations, providing services related to future heavy-duty vehicle technologies, market positioning of new renewable fuels, and technology development strategies.  In 2019, Patric joined HTEC as VP Infrastructure, leading the development of networks of hydrogen refueling stations.


Lee Deslauriers, P.Eng.

Lee Deslauriers is the Principal and Managing Engineer of StoneCroft Engineering Ltd. He has over 25 years of experience as a specialist in the natural resource sector, concentrating on bridges, stream crossings, steep roads, retaining walls, log handling and marine facilities as well as infrastructure projects for First Nations, parks and municipalities. Lee is a Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Forester, with a degree in Forest Operations and Forest Engineering from UBC, which was supported by exchanges to New Zealand and South Africa. Lee promotes practicality, safety and environmental stewardship in his work. His volunteer experience includes Patroller at Mount Cain, Past Chair of the Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector Division of Engineers and Geoscientists BC, and the Joint Practice Board of ABCFP/ Engineers and Geoscientists BC Crossings Task Force, co-authoring Version 3 of the Crossing Guidelines. Lee lives in Campbell River with his wife Janice and daughter Isla.


Robert McLean, P.Eng.

Robert is a senior engineer with the province of British Columbia’s Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Dam Safety Section. He completed a B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Manitoba and a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston. He is registered as a professional engineer in British Columbia and Colorado. Rob has over 20 years of hydrology, hydrogeology and geotechnical engineering project experience in the mining and water storage industries in Canada and at several international mining projects.  He has worn several hats during his engineering career including consultant, mining company employee, university associate faculty member and now regulator.


Brian Murphy

Brian Murphy is the Executive Director, Orphans and Liabilities with the BC Oil and Gas Commission.  Prior to this appointment three years ago, Brian was the Executive Director, Major Projects for the Commission responsible for permitting four major pipelines and two LNG facilities. He led the development of a Comprehensive Liability Management Plan for the Commission that included the implementation of the Dormancy and Shutdown Regulation. He has a deep understanding of natural resource and environmental governance and management with over 40 years of experience in the forestry, mining, energy, and environmental assessment sectors with both the private sector and BC government.  


David Thomson, P.Geo.

David Thomson is Regional Hydrogeologist with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development where he supports work around the Water Sustainability Act as a subject matter expert since 2015.  He has experience in contaminant and physical hydrogeology, and has worked in the environmental consulting and oil & gas sectors.  David was one of the authors of “Guidance for Technical Assessments in Support of an Application for Groundwater Use in British Columbia (Version 2)” and earlier this year co-authored “Hydrogeology and Environmental Flow Needs Assessment of a Groundwater Licence Application near Lumby, BC.” which summarizes the technical information surrounding the refusal of a new groundwater use license application in BC.


Julie-Ann Ishikawa, P.Geo.

Julie-Ann Ishikawa has been working as a hydrogeologist within the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy since 2014 and has over ten years prior experience working as a consultant in the fields of water resources and contaminated sites. She graduated with honours from UBC with a BSc in hydrogeology and soil science in 2003 and pursued a Master’s program in Water Resources Management in the Netherlands. Julie-Ann’s fields of interest are watershed science, groundwater-surface water interactions, and the development of policy to support sustainable water management. She is also passionate about improving access to provincial groundwater data and information.


Michele Lepitre, P.Geo.

Michele Lepitre is a Professional Geoscientist with a M.Sc. in hydrogeology, a B.Sc. in geological sciences, and over 20 years of experience. Following her M.Sc., she worked in hydrogeological and environmental consulting for seven years and subsequently she worked for the Province of BC for the past 13 years. Her current role is Section Head of the Groundwater team in the South Coast Region for the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations & Rural Development (FLNRORD). Previous roles within the BC Public Service include Regional Hydrogeologist for FLNRORD in the South Coast Region and Hydrogeologist for the Ministry of Environment in Victoria. Michele has been involved in developing groundwater related regulations under the Water Sustainability Act, and developing policy and technical guidance to support groundwater-related legislation, including “Guidance for Technical Assessments in Support of an Application for Groundwater Use in British Columbia (Version 2)”.

Freda Leong, P.Eng.

Freda Leong is a Civil Engineer and Manager, First Nations Infrastructure with Associated Engineering & Associated Environmental. She has over 20 years of experience in system planning and management, assessment and design of drainage, stormwater, and water distribution systems, condition assessment of water and stormwater assets, and water and stormwater modelling.


Dr. Madjid Mohseni, P.Eng.

Madjid Mohseni is a Professor at the University of British Columbia, and an expert in drinking water quality and treatment. He is also the scientific director of the RESEAU Centre for Mobilizing Innovation, a multi-disciplinary Knowledge Mobilization program funded by the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) and partners from industry, communities, government and NGOs, focusing on achieving socioeconomically and technologically sustainable outcomes in water health and well-being for Indigenous and non-urban communities.


Robyn Casement, P.Eng.

Robyn has 12 years of experience with water systems, from conceptual modelling and feasibility through design, construction and post-construction operational support.  She is focused on the planning, analysis, and design of resilient water systems for communities and brings experience on how they could operate more effectively.  Robyn works mainly with small communities in B.C. and the Yukon to develop solutions that reflect their locations, size and operational complexities.


Sandy Carpenter

Sandy Carpenter is Co-Founder of Canadian Regulatory and Indigenous Law, a regulatory and Indigenous law boutique, and is widely recognized as one of Canada's leading regulatory and Indigenous lawyers. Sandy has practiced administrative, environmental and Indigenous law for over 30 years across a wide range of industries and jurisdictions. He is a past President and member of the Board of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation, the pre-eminent association for lawyers engaged in energy law in Canada, and has taught Environmental Law and been a guest lecturer at the University of Calgary. Sandy obtained his LLB from UBC in 1985 and was called to the bar in BC in 1986. He was called to the bar in Alberta in 1997.


Ted Molyneux, P.Eng.

Ted graduated from The University of British Columbia Civil Engineering program in 1983 then worked for two decades with a Langley BC groundwater resource development and water treatment and distribution sales, service and contracting company. In 2003 Ted became a senior water engineer with Indigenous Services Canada.  There he works with British Columbia’s 200 First Nations supporting their 270 community water systems in supplying safe water.  For over five years Ted has been striving to incorporate reconciliation into his work and life. 


Jennifer Grace, EIT

Jennifer Grace is a Designer (EIT) at WSP’s Rail Systems Engineering team, who is passionate about creating intangible impacts on our communities. In 2019, she received her B.ASc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. After graduation she joined WSP Canada’s Rail and Transit team, since then she has gained significant technical expertise in Signalling, Rail Operation Modelling and Simulation and Pedestrian Modelling and Simulation. She worked on various railway projects across Canada.


Dr. Nader Noroozi, P.Eng.

Dr. Nader Noroozi has more than 16 years of experience in the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics for various industries from Oil & Gas, Water and Wastewater management systems to Aerospace and Defense. In the past few years, Nader has been focused on the transit sector, specifically the application of CFD in the simulation of fire in an underground enclosed space such as a subway environment and predicting the time to egress for riders of the transit system.


Dr. Nima Eslaminasab, P.Eng.

Dr. Nima Eslaminasab has more than 25 years of experience in multi-disciplinary design engineering fields, construction supervision, project engineering, and project management for multi-disciplinary multi-billion-dollar projects in the field of transportation, Fire Life Safety (FLS), Underground and Tunnel Ventilation Systems (TVS), fire protection, fire alarm, industrial and commercial building design. Throughout the past 12 years, Nima has focused on the transportation sector, especially in subway and LRT systems. He served multiple clients with high quality and integrity in P3, DB, DBF, DBFM, E, EPC, and EPCM projects. Nima’s problem-solving capabilities enable him to work well in stressful environments to meet tight deadlines and perform well regardless of the roles undertaken whether as a Consultant, Owner’s Engineer, or Construction Supervisor. Nima is currently acting as a senior system engineer - TVS and FLS in WSP Canada’s Rail System Engineering team.


Priya Dunna, P.Eng.

Priya Dunna, P.Eng, PMP, with 15 years of international experience in Systems and Software Engineering, and Project Management in the Rail and Transit Industry. She has significant technical expertise in Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) systems, Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems, Automatic Train Control System (ATCS) systems, Positive Train Control (PTC) systems and Conventional Rail Signaling systems.  She worked on various railway projects and pursuits such as Regional Express Rail for WSP, WPO San Francisco for Thales Canada, Baltimore LRT for Alstom, BHPIO for GE. She graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering in the year 2002. She received an M.S degree in Software Systems in 2005, and an MBA degree in 2018.


Dr. Sabrina Diemert, P.Eng.

Sabrina Diemert is a Drinking Water/Wastewater Engineer at the Ministry of Health. She has a broad technical background in the chemical and microbiological treatment of drinking water and wastewater, and has previously worked with the Hawaii Department of Health’s biological response section, as an environmental advisor in Honduras, in water research in Ontario and as a water process engineer in Vancouver, Canada with Associated Engineering. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering Chemistry (Queen’s), a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering (University of Toronto) and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering (University of Hawai’i at Mānoa).


Stephen Horsman, P.Eng.

Stephen Horsman is a Senior Engineer responsible for leading the BC Interior Water and Wastewater Team with WSP. He has over 15 years of experience working with municipal clients to improve the safety and reliability of their built and natural water assets. Stephen has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of water systems owners, large and small, to provide planning, design and advisory services. Stephen led the WSP team developing the Design Guidelines for Drinking Water Systems in BC and is excited for this document to be available to the engineering community to inform water system planning and design practice throughout the province. Stephen is the outgoing President of the BC Water and Waste Association and is an active member of the water community. When not tackling the worlds water challenges, Stephen and his wife Nicole run a zone defense on their four children, enjoying the beautiful outdoors that BC has to offer.


Allison DenToom, P.Eng.

As a Practice Advisor with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Allison is responsible for managing the development of professional practice guidelines and practice advisories for a variety of different areas of practice, providing practice advice services, as well as liaising with industry stakeholders and supporting a number of advisory and working groups for the development of professional practice guidance. Allison is a registered professional engineer with experience in the structural design of buildings. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in civil engineering from McGill University. Prior to joining Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Allison worked as a project engineer designing a variety of buildings from high-end custom homes to recreation centres to mid-rise concrete towers. The majority of her experience is on the design and project management of custom high-end homes and estates.


Amy Fehr, P.Eng.

Amy Fehr is Manager of the Professional Practice Advice Program at Engineers and Geoscientists BC. In this role, Amy manages a team that provides practice advice, develops guidelines and advisories, supports various internal advisory groups, and liaises with various stakeholders on issues that affect registrants. Amy is a registered professional engineer with a background in structural and hydrotechnical engineering.


Dan Rankin, P.Eng.

As a Practice Advisor with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Dan is responsible for managing the development of the Association’s professional practice guidelines, engaging with various stakeholders to address professional practice concerns, and for providing advice to registrants regarding practice issues.  Dan provides staff support to various Advisory Groups and Committees that support Engineers and Geoscientists BC regulatory objectives. Dan is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mechanical) from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Applied Science (Aerospace) from the University of Toronto.  Prior to joining Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Dan spent over 14 years working in multi-disciplinary engineering roles on satellite mission projects, including as a software developer, operations engineer, and project engineer.


Jesse Romano

Mr. Romano is the Associate Director, Investigation and Discipline at Engineers and Geoscientists BC.  Mr. Romano manages the investigation and discipline team at Engineers and Geoscientists BC and oversees the conduct complaint intake, investigation and discipline processes. 


Kate Haines

Kate Haines has been a Director at the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG) since April 2020. Prior to joining the OSPG, she worked at the Environmental Assessment Office for over 10 years in a variety of operational and policy roles. Most recently, she served as  Director of Policy and Legislation and was a key contributor to revitalization of the environmental assessment process, resulting in the passage of the new Environmental Assessment Act in 2018.


Klara Hillman, MPP

Klara Hillmann is the Regulatory Officer in the Legislation, Ethics and Compliance department at Engineers and Geoscientists BC. In her role, Klara writes policies and procedures for the department, writes content for the communications with the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance, supported the development of the Bylaws and the Guide to the Code of Ethics.


Rebecca Freedman

Rebecca Freedman has been a Director at the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG) since it was created in June, 2019. Prior to joining the OSPG, she was part of the team at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy that carried out the 2018 Professional Reliance Review and developed the Professional Governance Act.   Rebecca has over 15 years of policy and regulatory experience, primarily in the environmental management field.


Stuart Nash, P.Eng.

As Manager, Individual Audits and Practice Reviews, Stuart Nash is responsible for managing the individual Audit, Practice Review, and Continuing Education Programs at Engineers and Geoscientists BC. He also supports the development of practice guidelines, Engineers and Geoscientists BC's technical divisions, and the Continuing Education Program Advisory Group. Stuart is a registered professional engineer with a background in municipal utilities and site servicing engineering.


David Harvey, P.Eng., Struct.Eng., FEC

David Harvey is a senior bridge specialist at Associated Engineering who is passionate about bridge engineering. He has over 40 years of experience encompassing thousands of bridge projects of all types, across Western Canada and other parts of the world. His special interests include cost-effective bridge solutions, designing for constructibility, and rehabilitation/adaptation of heritage bridges.


Patrick Cullen

As Security and Emergency Services Coordinator with BC Housing, Patrick focuses on the agency's business continuity plans, asset security and crime prevention to managed properties. He lead the revision of the Rapid Damage Assessment curriculum and re-design as for online self-paced learning to reach a wider audience. Previously Patrick was the Emergency Program Coordinator for the City of Maple Ridge where he developed plans and trained staff and volunteers for the city's response to large disasters.


Shane Cook, P.Eng.

Shane is the Transportation Division Manager at Associated Engineering,  with over 20 years’ experience deliver a variety of projects, he has been involved in the design of a wide range of structures including bridges, buildings, water tanks, and dams. For nearly 20 years, Shane has focused on bridge and transportation projects. He has been the designer for a variety of bridges including concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel bridges. Shane has developed a specialty in the assessment, seismic retrofit, and rehabilitation of structures. Projects have included a variety of structures ranging from steel, concrete and timber bridges of all forms from major river crossings though to small pedestrian structures. His more notable, recent retrofit and rehabilitation projects include the Burrard Street Bridge Retrofit and Rehabilitation, the Granville Street Bridge Retrofit and Bearing Replacement, Knight Street Bridge Retrofit and Rehabilitation all in Vancouver; the Crowchild Trail over Bow River Bridge rehabilitation and widening in Calgary, the Cypress and Nelson Creek Bridges on Highway 1, and the Lougheed Highway Bridge Seismic Retrofit and Rehabilitation in Burnaby.


William (Bill) White, P.Eng. (Ontario)

Bill is the Principal of Wm White Consulting Services and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. He has a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Queen’s University, Belfast. He has also trained as a Military Engineer. While Regional Emergency Planning Engineer, Public Works Canada, he conducted damage assessment in Alberta and BC related to claims for Disaster Financial Assistance. Upon retirement from the Federal Government, Bill joined BC Housing as the Security and Emergency Program Coordinator for 7 years. During that time BC Housing assisted in 5 flood events and Bill was involved in Rapid Damage Assessment (RDA). Since retiring, he continues to teach RDA and has assisted in the training and co-ordination of RDA at 2 flood events (Okanagan 2017 and Grand Forks 2018).
