Anthony Taylor

Anthony Taylor is the Managing Partner of SME Strategy Consulting, as well as the author of two books (on both strategy & entrepreneurship), and the host of the Strategy and Leadership Podcast. He has led hundreds of organizations through the process of creating strategic plans, getting their leadership teams aligned and on the same page, and creating the structures and processes to sustain the change. His clients include The Reserve Bank of Fiji, Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, The Business Development Bank of Canada, The University of British Columbia. Anthony loves people and strategy and recognizes how important a clear vision and goals can be towards impacting personal satisfaction, teamwork, and the overall impact an organization can have on the world.


Brad Greening

Brad is Vice President, Client Executive at Marsh Canada whose primary role is to manage the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Affinity Program for Professional Liability Insurance. Brad obtained his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 1997, and has over 25 years in the insurance industry on both Underwriting and Brokering side of the insurance business. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise in Professional Liability products as well as the business of professional engineers.


Daniela Fuda

A lawyer by training, Daniela joined Berkley Canada in 2016 and is a Director in the Claims group. Daniela’s primary focus is centered around working on complex claims arising out of Berkley's specialty lines products, which includes errors & omissions, directors & officers, technology and cyber, life sciences, employment practices, and environmental.  Prior to joining Berkley, Daniela practiced as a lawyer in New York for eleven years. She has successfully represented insurance carriers and acted as coverage and monitoring counsel.  Daniela is a standing member of both New York and Connecticut bars.


Felix Buhociu

Felix joined Berkley Canada in 2015, and currently manages the underwriting for the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia Affinity Professional Liability Program. With 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Felix served on both sides of the spectrum, having worked for global insurance brokerage firms for over 16 years and more recently for global insurance companies for the past 8 years. His expertise provides superior risk management, client service and sound underwriting knowledge. Felix holds a Master of Business Administration degree from HEC and U of Ottawa. He also holds the Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP). Designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada and the RIMS Fellow (RF) designation from the Global Risk Management Institute's (GRMI).


Sue Maitland

Sue Maitland PCC draws on her own personal challenges with networking over her 25-year career in IT consulting and shares how she overcame her resistance when she started her own coaching practice 8 years ago. She now leads workshops and is an in-demand speaker on the topic of networking at conferences and professional associations. In today’s complex world, Sue believes that building a strong diverse network is essential to help you stay on top of new developments, provide support and encouragement and open doors to new career possibilities. Tara Landes

Tara Landes has spent over two decades working directly with the leaders and management of dozens of North American small and mid-sized enterprises. She is the founder and president of Bellrock Benchmarking Inc., a Vancouver-based management consulting firm. Bellrock helps business leaders solve their toughest problems. Permanently. She is also a highly sought after speaker. Tara earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2000. When she is not helping clients, you’ll find her on a boat in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, reading a great book while her husband and sons fish.


Erin Davis

Erin is a connector, change maker, and builder of inclusive workplace cultures. She continues to follow her passion on building workplaces that work for women and recently accepted the role of Director, Corporate Engagement, Western Canada with Catalyst. Previously, Erin was the Director, Global Total Engagement at Stantec and lead their global inclusion strategy. Erin was honoured to receive both the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion award as D&I Practitioner of the Year in Western Canada, as well as the Catalyst Canada Honours award in the Emerging Leader category for her work in the diversity and inclusion space in 2018. Outside her organization, she is the chair of the Edmonton Business Diversity Network (EBDN) and a founding member of Works for Women, a group that is committed to sparking dialogue, building awareness, and inspiring action when it comes to women in leadership and The C-Retreat a boutique-style conference that brings together professional women leaders to conquer challenges, cultivate change and create community. Erin is a visionary who is exceptional at turning ideas into reality, helping people out of their comfort zones, and getting 25 hours of living into every 24 hours. She lives in Edmonton with her two amazing children and also works to teach them about a world where inclusion truly matters.


Jhenifer Pabillano

Jhenifer Pabillano, PMP, is a Project Manager with the City of Vancouver, working on strategic corporate projects for the City’s Engineering Services department. Her current projects include the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, Building a City We Love, the Citywire upgrade, and more. Previously, she was the Communications Manager for the 2018 municipal election and spent five years as the City’s first ever Social Media Strategist. Her work at the City has earned a UBCM Community Excellence Award for Best Practices in Social Media, a Canadian Internet Marketing Award for Best Social Media Campaign, and an IABC Gold Quill Merit Award.


Justine Clift

With 10 years’ experience in urban planning and transportation, Justine leads the City of Vancouver’s long-range transportation planning team. As a Senior Engineer and co-chair of Engineering's Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, Justine spends her time facilitating gritty conversations around the future of our cities and the people who live and work in them. She is currently loving maternity leave and looking forward to bringing fresh perspective back to her work in 2021.


Kear Porttris

Kear is the Relationship Manager and Principal of Gwaii Engineering, is a Métis engineer, and is involved with student mentoring, often presenting science and career workshops to students in elementary and secondary schools. He has worked to combine cultural and community perspectives into technical fields since starting his journey to become an engineer over a decade a ago. Kear sees immense opportunities in building capacity with Indigenous communities, where Indigenous involvement benefits the community and consultants alike.


Lucy De Souza

Lucy is Ph.D. student at the University of British Columbia.  Her research focuses on allyship as action, mainly investigating the social-psychological factors that inhibit people from confronting prejudice and the perceived benefits of cross-group dialogue. Drawing from intersectional and Black feminist theory, her research also revolves around how race/ethnicity may distinctively shape perceptions of women in male-dominated spaces such as STEM fields.


Chris Mealing

Chris Mealing is the Canada Unit General Manager at Mott MacDonald. Chris enthusiastically and tirelessly is a champion for early career professionals.


Dani Delaloye

Dani Delaloye is a Senior Project Engineer at Mott MacDonald.  Over her eight years in the engineering industry, Dani has actively advocated for early career professionals both at Mott MacDonald and through external involvement in groups such as the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of British Columbia Young Professionals Group and Engineers without Borders. Dani has led the national and global early career professional committees at Mott MacDonald and currently sits as the Chair of the ACEC-BC YPG.


Eric Tung

As a Senior Change Management Consultant at Prolepsis Consulting, Eric advises firms on large-scale enterprise-wide changes, ensuring organizational readiness. Eric's clients range from smaller firms to larger organizations such as the City of Vancouver, Metro Vancouver, BC Hydro, TELUS, BC Pension Corporation, and others. He also develops and delivers customized training seminars on topics including leadership development, change management, business and technical writing, customer service, sales, negotiations, train the trainer, presentations, and facilitation. In addition to consulting, Eric is an Instructor at UBC's Extended Learning and a Lecturer at SFU's Beedie School of Business.


Michael Tranmer, P.Eng.

Michael Tranmer is GHD's Maritime & Coastal Lead for Western Canada. He has over 13 years experience managing multi-disciplinary Coastal projects throughout British Columbia. His Project Management expertise has been applied across a diverse range of sectors, including: LNG, Habitat Enhancement, and Remedial Dredging. Michael is a Project Management Professional, a Certified Coach Practitioner, and a TedX speaking coach. Through his coaching, writing and speaking, Michael empowers young leaders to transcend beyond their limitations to achieve personal and professional greatness. Michael is an adventure athlete, an Ironman finisher, and author of Satori Ananda - Awaken to Happiness.


Anna Stukas, P.Eng.

Anna Stukas is a VP of Business Development at Carbon Engineering Ltd. (CE), a Canadian-based clean energy company. CE is leading the commercialization of ground-breaking technology that captures carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere, and a second technology that synthesizes it into clean, affordable transportation fuels. Anna is a Professional Engineer with more than 15 years’ experience bridging the gap between technology and business to overcome barriers to cleantech commercialization. Anna previously worked with Angstrom Power and BIC developing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, and has led a variety of CE initiatives from strategic projects to government programs. Anna is also a Past President of the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology, and a firm believer that diversity is a critical component to driving innovation in technology.


Ed Knaggs, P.Eng.

Mr. Knaggs career has been focused on design and project management in the field of photovoltaics. He is a Professional Engineer with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University. Mr. Knaggs manages the HES engineering, training and maintenance teams. He has over 15 years experience with remote, storage based and grid connected systems including repeaters, micro-grids, net metering and feed-intariff systems. He has also designed curriculum for and facilitated seminars to educate technicians in the installation, marketing and design of photovoltaic systems. He is a current member of several CSA Technical committees for solar energy product standards.


Megan Lohmann

Megan Lohmann has been working in the field of climate and energy for 15 years, engaging with local government, industry, public and First Nations on innovative, local solutions to support the transition to low-carbon communities. She is passionate about designing and implementing high-impact initiatives by unlocking unique, effective collaboration between the public and private sectors. Megan is Head of Community Energy Management for the Community Energy Association, and has facilitated impactful projects in the transportation, building and waste sectors. She co-chairs the BC EV Local Government Peer Network, is a member of the BC Energy Step Code Council and is a fellow with the Energy Futures Lab in Alberta.


Sarah Shepherd, EIT

Sarah is an energy modeller with a background in mechanical engineering. She has helped write guides on energy modelling and designing for future climate conditions, as well as preparing several presentations and workshops on overheating and the BC Energy Step Code. Outside of work, Sarah is part of the Engineers Declare Working Group in BC and is passionate about climate change mitigation and adaptation.


Scott Sinclair, P.Eng.

Scott is an engineer, entrepreneur and environmentalist who cares deeply about the impact of climate change on future generations. Starting SES as a sole proprietorship, Scott has grown it into a unique small business that empowers staff to practice innovative engineering to tackle the challenge of dramatically reducing emissions in our clients’ buildings. He draws on 25 years of experience in construction and consulting to find solutions that implement efficiency, comfort and occupant experience. Inspired by his adventures in nature while whitewater kayaking, backcountry skiing and mountain biking, Scott believes in a future where buildings have less impact on the Earth, while better serving the needs of people.


Susan MacDougall, P.Eng.

Susan has worked in the building industry for over 15 years and started Focal Engineering in 2015. She is an experienced designer, energy modeller and project manager with a passion for sustainability, which has been her career focus. Outside of Focal, Susan is an instructor with Passive House Canada and is in her 4th year as an elected Councillor with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.


Allan Bradley, P.Eng.

Allan Bradley has over 30 years of experience in research and development of roads, infrastructure, and trucking and is the author of over 50 related publications. He is keenly interested in resource road design, policy and technical issues; and in the interaction of heavy trucks and infrastructure in the context of soils and climate. Allan is the Research Lead of the Roads and Infrastructure Group of FPInnovations. Internationally recognized for his contributions in variable tire pressure technology and seasonal weight programs, Allan is a member of both the Transportation Association of Canada and the American Association of Civil Engineers. Allan is a BC-registered professional engineer and professional forester, and lives in Vancouver with his wife and two children.


Chris Oman

Chris has been a professional forester for almost 30 years. Since 1998 he has worked at the BC Forest Practices Board investigating complaints, leading audits and special projects, including two special investigations of bridge planning, design and construction.


Garth Lord, P.Eng.

Garth Lord has 35 years of experience within the natural resource sector, employed by the Forest Practices Board, major licensees and as a consulting engineer. His experience includes over 6 years as a staff member with the Forest Practices Board of BC as Manager of Audits and Investigations and 17 years of contract auditing work with the Board as Lead Auditor, Roads and Structures, as well as being involved in various Special Projects and Investigations. As the Operations Engineer with Interfor, he was responsible for a staff of 15 professionals and additional field crews, overseeing an annual cut of 1.2 million cubic meters. From 1997 to 2013, Garth has worked in the Forest Sector as a Senior Consulting Engineer advising on field operations, both roads and structures, harvesting, and environmental management practices.


Dr. Matthias Jakob, P.Geo. 

Matthias is a Principal Geoscientist at BGC Engineering Inc. He has worked over 25 years on steep creek hazard and risk assessments which occupied more than 50% of his time. He has written some 80 papers in peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings and book chapters on applied aspects of steep creek hazard and risk assessments.


Mithun Shetty, P.Eng.

Mithun Shetty is a senior researcher with FPInnovations’ Transportation and Infrastructure group. He is a Professional Engineer registered in BC and received his Master of Applied Science in Forestry from UBC, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Automobile Engineering from Mumbai University. He also is a member of the Project Management Institute, Society of Automotive Engineers, IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society, and the Vehicular Technology Society. Mithun is active in SAE and CSA standard committees. He has more than fifteen years of experience in the transport sector with expertise in Intelligent Transportation Systems. Mithun is currently leading in-forest connectivity project. He enjoys hiking, running, and helping others.


Murray Down, EIT

Murray Down is a senior InSAR analyst at 3v Geomatics (3vG). He holds an applied science degree in integrated engineering from UBC. He has been producing InSAR displacement reports for over five years for clients in mining, oil & gas, pipelines, and transportation infrastructure. He has investigated sites spread across five continents, with a focus on using long-wavelength satellites to detect geohazards in heavily vegetated areas.


Carlos Salas, P.Geo.

Carlos Salas is a professional geologist (Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia) with over thirty years of wide-ranging industry experience in all facets of oil and gas exploration  and has held senior positions, along with directorships  in public and private companies.  Initially schooled as a fluvial sedimentologist (B.Sc. McMaster University, M.Sc. University of Ottawa, 1986), Mr. Salas has used his well-rounded technical background as an explorationist throughout the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, northern and eastern Canada, various basins throughout the United States and internationally.  He is currently at Geoscience BC, a publicly-funded non-profit organization, in the capacity of Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer where he is providing technical leadership to initiatives promoting informed resource management decision-making through earth science. He is also on Geoscience BC’s Board of Directors.


Dr. Conor Reynolds, P.Eng.

Conor is a professional engineer with two decades of experience related to the science, policy and management of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. He has a Ph.D. in Resource Management and Environmental Studies, and a M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, both from UBC. Conor currently leads the Air Quality & Climate Change Policy team at Metro Vancouver, the regional government that delivers services, policy and political leadership on behalf of 23 local authorities. His team is responsible for the development and implementation of Climate 2050, Metro Vancouver’s 30-year regional climate action strategy, as well as the new Clean Air Plan, with will identify and prioritize actions to reduce air contaminant and greenhouse gas emissions in our region over the next 10 years. Conor is the current Chair of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Climate Change Advisory Group. He also Chairs the Steering Committee for Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s first Climate Change Action Plan.


Dr. Dominique Sigg

Dominique Sigg is a Senior Policy Analyst in the Climate Risk Management Team, Climate Action Secretariat. Since joining the team in August 2018 Dominique has co-led the Preliminary Strategic Climate Risk Assessment as well as projects that build climate adaptation capacity, and is involved in the development of the Climate Preparedness and Adaptation Strategy for B.C. Dominique has a PhD in Conservation Biology from Australia and since moving to Canada in 2007 has worked for the province in a number of areas including species at risk conservation, invasive species management, and climate adaptation.


Donald O'Connor, P.Eng.

Mr. O’Connor is President of (S&T)2 Consultants Inc. He is a mechanical engineer with a broad background in energy and environmental consulting and in industry. Mr. O’Connor’s background includes over 40 years of consulting, manufacturing, and marketing experience, mostly related to transportation fuels. He is the developer of the GHGenius LCA model for transportation fuels. The model is widely used in Canada, the United States and other parts of the world. Mr. O’Connor has seven patents related to biofuels and food ingredients and has been an author of six peer reviewed papers.


Harshan Radhakrishnan, P.Eng.

In his role at Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Harshan supports programs and initiatives as they relate to areas of climate change adaptation, water management, sustainability, and energy efficiency. This includes work on providing professional practice guidance to registrants on matters related to the professional practice of engineering and geoscience in BC and through Engineers Canada, ationally. Harshan also provides staff support to the regulatory body’s Climate Change Advisory Group, Sustainability committee, and other designated committees, including the BC Energy Step Code Council and the Adaptation Learning Network Advisory Group.


Lindsay Luke

Lindsay Luke is the Director of Legislation and Policy with the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office. Ms. Luke has worked in environmental assessment for many years and was actively involved in the implementation of the new Environmental Assessment Act (2018) when it came into force in 2019. 


Dr. Roger Beckie, P.Eng., FEC

Roger is a professor and geological engineer in Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (EOAS) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and an M.A. and PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University.  At UBC was a Director of the Geological Engineering Program (2002-2011) and Department Head (2014 - 2019) of EOAS. His area of research is groundwater hydrology and geochemistry, with recent emphasis on naturally occurring arsenic is aquifers in south Asia, the hydrology and hydrogeochemistry of mine waste rock, and the impacts of fugitive natural gas associated with unconventional gas development on groundwater in the Peace Region of NE British Columbia. He is the director of the Energy and Environment Research Initiative (https://eeri.ubc.ca) at UBC.


Alan Oishi

Since 2010, Alan has been providing strategy support to purpose-led organizations across all industry sectors. He is also a top-rated speaker, including being named 2016 Canadian Speaker of the Year by TEC Canada. Prior to his transition to strategic advisory services, Alan spent the previous 18 years at Colliers International where he served as their Executive Vice President, Global COO and Chief Executive, USA.   Alan now specializes in increasing strategic and leadership capability by leveraging simple tools to align decision making and accelerate execution


Catherine Ducharme

Catherine Ducharme, ACC, CLC, Co-Founder, Fluency Leadership - Catherine is a leader, communicator, certified coach, entrepreneur and speaker. Before transitioning her career to leadership development, coaching and facilitation, she spent 20+ years as a corporate and marketing communications leader, both client side and running her own communication companies. She has a depth of experience leading teams, building companies, providing executive communications counsel and coaching, and facilitating workshops. She’s a certified leadership coach, is a trained Engagement Champion through Gallup, and is certified in delivering the Core Strengths Relational Intelligence Program.


Rachelle Lee

Rachelle Lee, President, Einblau & Associates Rachelle is an organization development and management consultant specializing in leadership training and coaching, succession planning, leadership team development, and strategic planning. Rachelle provides consulting and advisory services in a variety of industry sectors including engineering, financial services, manufacturing, graphic design/advertising, health care and social services. She holds certification in a number of leadership development programs, has worked in corporate and mid-sized businesses, and was previously CEO of a Canadian communications research company. As an entrepreneur, Rachelle started and operated 3 companies, in the marketing communications, fashion, and medical cosmetics industries.


Shalyma Cambridge

Shalyma is a Program Development Associate and instructor for our firm. She brings a deep understanding of the unique leadership and communications challenges faced within large complex organizations. As a group facilitator and coach to leaders across various industries, Shalyma is passionate about helping both established and emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds communicate their values, forge real connections and inspire action. She helps leaders develop into strong communicators who can lead with authenticity and courage. Shalyma has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University, a Graduate Certificate in Professional Communications Management from Royal Roads University and is a University of British Columbia Certified Organizational Coach.


Chalys Joseph, P.Eng.

Chalys Joseph is the Senior Branch Manager of Development and Major Projects in the Engineering department at the City of Vancouver.  Her team manages street use and development impacts on engineering assets, and includes the Engineering Client Services Counter.  They provide input on behalf of Engineering from Policy through to implementation, managing a busy development and construction industry in the City.  Chalys has worked at the City for almost seven years, working entirely in the development area of engineering.  Prior to working for the City of Vancouver, Chalys worked as a consulting engineer, gaining a wide variety of experience across civil engineering.


Dan Sandink

Dan Sandink joined the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) in 2006 and is currently Director of Research. Dan has led a significant portion of ICLR’s urban flood risk reduction work, and is involved in numerous local and national committees and projects focussed on reducing urban & basement flood, wildland-urban interface fire, and high wind risk for residential buildings. Dan participates on numerous technical committees for national standards and guides concerning reducing risk from climate-related hazards, and is a graduate of the geography and planning programs at the universities of Guelph, Western Ontario, and Toronto.


James Kay, P.Eng.

James Kay is the Development Engineering Manager with the City of Kelowna, has served as a consulting civil engineer to the private sector, and has been designing, administering and approving land development and municipal engineering projects across Canada since 2001.  James has been very involved with EGBC and is a champion of Professional Development, Mentorship, and OQM.  James and his family relocated to the Lower Mainland in 2005 and Interior in 2011 and is a proud Rotarian, skier, and educator.


Michelle Mahovlich, P.Eng./P.Geo

Michelle is director of Engineering and Public Works for the City of Langford, one of British Columbia’s fastest growing municipalities. In her role as Director she oversees both new subdivision and the City’s own capital construction projects. The City operates as very pro-development which lends itself to a fast-paced work environment and one with many opportunities to problem solve. Michelle has worked for Langford for the past 12 years. Prior to that she was Land Development Manager for the 1500-acre Bamberton Site. She has worked in both geotechnical and environmental engineering in her 30-year career.


Sarah Webb

Sarah Webb is the Manager of Transportation Planning & Development at the City of Victoria. In her position in the Engineering & Public Works department, Sarah is responsible for a team dedicated to mobility planning, policy development, and the design and construction of major infrastructure projects such as pathways, bus lanes and protected bike lanes. Prior to joining the City, Sarah worked at the Capital Regional District, the University of Victoria and the Canadian Urban Transit Association. In 2019, Sarah completed a program at the University of Oxford focusing on inter-generational equity and well-being through urban transportation infrastructure. She and her family love ride bikes in the capital region and the southern gulf islands.


Shauna Huculak

Shauna Huculak is the City of Vancouver's engineering archaeologist responsible for technical reviews, heritage policy development, training, and process refinement.  Shauna is a professional archaeologist with a Master’s degree in archaeology from SFU.  Shauna has over 15 years of experience in managing archaeological assessments and mitigation projects across Western Canada.  Over the past decade Shauna has worked extensively with government regulators, municipalities and various ministry's across BC, providing technical archaeological and Indigenous engagement expertise on a wide range of projects and initiatives.  Through this work, Shauna has developed close relationships with a many Indigenous communities that include: Songhees, Esquimalt, Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.  Working closely with municipalities, regulatory authorities, and Indigenous leadership and businesses Shauna helps achieve results that meet regulatory requirements, project goals and community needs.


Sze Kong, P.Eng.

Sze Kong, P.Eng. is the Manager of Engineering Strategy and Standards for the City of Vancouver. Sze has over 10 years of experience working in the public sector. Sze and her team fulfill an integrator role across the City’s Engineering Services through introducing innovative approaches, enabling consistency and facilitating strategic initiatives by drawing upon subject-matter experts from across all branches.  


Troy McKay, Eng.L.

Troy is the Senior Manager of Transportation and Development Services at the District of Saanich and oversees the project planning, design and implementation of new transportation infrastructure in Saanich. Troy’s area of practice is centered on municipal streets in a mixed urban and rural context, with a focus on retrofitting built environments with modern active transportation infrastructure design principles.  The world of Active Transportation projects and the related design is evolving rapidly and these new ways of re-imagining streets are increasingly complex to design, build and maintain. Troy is always looking forward to the next unique transportation challenge.


Efrem Swartz, LLB

As Director of Legislation, Ethics and Compliance at Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Efrem Swartz oversees the effective management of the investigation, assessment, and resolution of complaints against individuals practising professional engineering and geoscience in British Columbia. He is also responsible for the education and promotion of ethical practice and for the interpretation and enforcement of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act. Efrem first joined Engineers and Geoscientists BC in November 2013 as the Acting Director of Legislation, Ethics and Compliance. Previously, he founded Swartz Law Corporation, an independent firm specializing in professional regulation, administrative law, and civil litigation. He provided a wide range of legal services to many different professional regulatory bodies. Efrem received both his LLB and Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.


Jesse Romano

Mr. Romano holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Sciences from Trent University in Ontario and is a trained investigator, having earned multiple certificates in investigation training, including the Advanced Level National Certified Investigator Training program through the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation.  Prior to joining Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Mr. Romano was employed as a Compliance Review Officer for an organization that regulated private post-secondary and career training institutions in British Columbia, and which sought to protect students.  In this work, Mr. Romano conducted audits and investigations on a variety of educational institutions.  As Investigation and Discipline Manager at Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Mr. Romano oversees the complaint intake, investigation and discipline processes.  


Kelly Dayman, Eng.L.

As Associate Director of Regulation of Firms, Kelly Dayman is responsible for the Regulation of Firms Program including the education, support, auditing, and practice review of registrant firms. In addition, he is responsible for the Organizational Quality Management (OQM) Program and the organization’s advisory groups related to registrant firms. Kelly is a registered engineering licensee with extensive experience in manufacturing and consulting. Kelly is trained as an ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor and has audited firms across Canada, both for ISO 9001 and OQM compliance. He joined Engineers and Geoscientists BC in 2012 to launch the OQM Program and brings the value-added approach of the OQM Program to the regulation of firms.


Lindsay Steele, P.Geo.

Lindsay Steele is a registered professional geoscientist with extensive experience in mining and mineral exploration As Associate Director of Professional Practice, Lindsay is responsible for the development and management of professional practice guidance and resources for individual registrants, including Engineers and Geoscientists BC's professional practice guidelines, practice advisories, quality management standards, and practice advice services. In addition, she oversees the Continuing Education Program and the individual Audit and Practice Review Programs


Stuart Nash, P.Eng.

As Manager, Professional Practice Development and Outreach, Stuart Nash is responsible for supporting Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s technical divisions and Continuing Education Program Advisory Group as well as liaising with engineering groups around the province. Stuart is a registered professional engineer with a background in municipal utilities and site servicing engineering. Before joining Engineers and Geoscientists BC in 2018, he was a project manager and project engineer for a municipal engineering consultant.


Arman Shahnaz, P.Eng.

Arman Shahnaz is Project Engineer at Mott MacDonald. He is a professional engineer with eight years of experience with structural design, project coordination, and field engineering services for various highway bridges. Arman has experience in analysis, detailed design, construction support services, condition assessments, live load evaluation, and rehabilitation for reinforced concrete, steel, and timber structures. Much of Arman’s time has been working on a combination of highway infrastructure projects for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and TransLink.  He has been involved in both the detailed design and tender procurement phases of projects.


Dennis Gam, P.Eng.

Dennis completed his Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and joined RJC upon graduation. While working, he completed his Masters of Structural Engineering, also at the University of British Columbia. During his 25 years with RJC, Dennis has been an effective and reliable team player with a talent for bringing practical solutions to structural engineering problems. He has become an experienced and trusted advisor to many organizations that require assessment or mitigation of seismic risk. Much of his work can be described as structural problem solving in an existing building environment. His group tackles an wide range of issues that include secondary structural elements, and seismic restraint engineering for equipment and fixtures; as well as upgrading of unique building structures. In recent years, Dennis has also assisted AIBC’s Post Disaster Response Committee in Post-Disaster Building Assessment training, in collaboration with BC Housing and the City of Vancouver.


Donald Luxton

Born and raised in Vancouver, Donald Luxton has a passionate interest in local history and heritage. He is one of British Columbia’s strongest heritage conservation advocates and is considered one of Canada’s foremost heritage consultants. Involved in the field of heritage and cultural resource management since 1983, he is a well-known consultant, advocate, educator and author, and has worked on numerous projects throughout western Canada, including municipal heritage planning projects, the restoration of residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, and the development of museums and cultural facilities. He is active in the field of public education through the teaching of heritage conservation courses, and is the author of numerous publications, including co-author of Lions Gate, which won numerous literary and heritage awards. Building the West: The Early Architects of British Columbia was awarded the Heritage Canada Achievement Award in 2003 and a BC Book Prize in 2004. His interest in the preservation of architecture has led to his continuing involvement with a number of heritage societies, including his role as a founding Director of the Victoria Heritage Foundation, as a former Director of the Vancouver Heritage Foundation, as President of Heritage Vancouver from 2004-13, and as a current Director of the Arthur Erickson Foundation. In 2007, he was elected to the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and in 2009 he was the recipient of the British Columbia Heritage Award. In 2020, Donald was accepted as a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter.


Dr. Jason Dowling, P.Eng.

Jason is a Structural Engineer at Associated Engineering with a broad range of experience in bridge rehabilitation, earthquake and structural engineering research and education. His experience includes seismic assessment of existing simple-span, arch and suspension bridges; static and dynamic analysis of structures; design of seismic retrofit and rehabilitation works for concrete and steel bridges; forensic engineering. Jason has experience working on the dynamic analysis of piles and large pile groups; linear and nonlinear site response analysis; calculation of seismic hazard and de-aggregated hazard for different return periods and site classes; and probabilistic liquefaction assessment. Jason holds a PhD from University College Dublin, where his research focussed on the dynamic response of bridges and developing accurate methods and algorithms for the measurement of dynamic load effects.


Judith Mosley

Judith Mosley is the Executive Director of Vancouver Heritage Foundation. She holds a degree in History from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Conservation of Historic Buildings from the University of Bath. Judith is a member of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals. Vancouver Heritage Foundation is a registered charity that promotes the appreciation and conservation of historic places in Vancouver through educational programming, online resources, projects and grants. Along with over fifty public events each year, recent initiatives have included a homeowners guide to building code requirements, new energy-efficiency and heritage conservation grant programs, and interactive web tools.


Dr. Martin Turek, P.Eng.

Martin is a Structural Engineer with 20 years of experience in structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. He obtained his MASc and PhD degrees from the University of British Columbia, and has been working as a consultant since 2007. His expertise is in experimental laboratory and field testing of civil structures and non-structural components; seismic and vibration issues of structures; dynamic analysis, assessment, vibration diagnostics and instrumentation. He previously spent time with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure BC managing the Provincial Bridge monitoring systems and with the UBC Earthquake Engineering Research Facility as laboratory manager.


Dr. Rishi Gupta, P.Eng., FEC

Dr. Rishi Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Victoria.  He leads the Facility for Innovative Materials and Infrastructure Monitoring (FIMIM) at UVic. He received both a masters and a PhD in Civil Engineering (Materials) from the University of British Columbia.  His current research is focused on studying the early-age behavior of cement-based composites containing SCMs and fibers.  His areas of interest include development of sustainable construction technologies, masonry structures, structural health monitoring, and non-destructive testing.  He has more than 15 years of combined academic and industry experience. Rishi is a Fellow of Engineers Canada and the past chair of the EGBC’s Burnaby/New West branch.  He is the Chair of the international affairs committee of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering (CSCE).  He is a longstanding member of the American Concrete Institute and is also a voting member of several subcommittees of ASTM C 09.
